Cloud nine; it’s where every bride is on her wedding day.  That’s where the bride was when I shot the images you’ll see below.  I had the honor of shooting Courtney and Jeff while second shooting their wedding for Mike Spirito of Michael David Photography.   But on a less “wedding” note and a more serious note, I’d like to go into something that gave me concern as a wedding photographer.  You see, I take my responsibility as a wedding photographer very seriously.  Sure, I try to keep the mood leavened, put on a happy face and joke with the bride and groom to keep things upbeat, but I also respect the fact that they have entrusted me to archive a huge part of their family history.  More important, I am recording moments of the very first chapter in the latest installment of their life.  All well and good, and I

A Connecticut Photographer in King Michael’s Court…

Jennie and I like to take our winter time and stretch ourselves creatively.  It’s a chance for us to get out and learn, create and mingle with our photographer compatriots.  One of the main benefits of this ‘exploration’ is the opportunity to test ourselves and our equipment so that when your wedding day comes, we can be ready quickly to create something that looks gorgeous for our brides :-) This past weekend, I had the pleasure of working with Micheal Spirito and Brad Smith in at a photo session with 3 great looking models and a really cool location.  Except for the skateboard shot below, all the images were made with one or two lights.  This means that these techniques can be adapted to the fast paced wedding environment rather easily without compromising the day’s schedule.  Although these images tend more toward the ‘artsy side,’ there are plenty of ways

A Midsummer Night’s dress…

Jennie and I had an idea, shoot brides and grooms in controlled situations that showcase some of our fantastic local venues.  It’s a chance for us to work with vendors, models, and venues while creating some great images.  Here’s what we’ve learned, working with venues, not terribly difficult, all we had to do was ask.  Working with models, again not so difficult, all we had to do was ask.  Then it dawned on us…wedding dresses…where could we find wedding dresses for different models for the different shoots?  Before we started trying bridal vendors Jennie told me to let her try something.  I waited and by the time a few days had passed Jennie called me elated, “I think I’ve got eight dresses for us!”  Jennie had put a post up on facebook and the call was answered.  A bunch of generous friends offered up their nuptial accouterments, (i.e. beautiful gowns)  We got
