I recently had the pleasure of shooting Audrey and James’ wedding at Acacia at Indian Meadows Country Club. We got rained in for the day but that didn’t hamper spirits! After shooting the couple getting ready in their respective rooms, we used the lobby of the hotel and got some very nice images of Audrey and her immediate family. Audrey was stunning in her subsequent outfit changes as the night rolled on. One thing that I loved about Audrey and James’ wedding was the “first look.” It’s an opportunity for the bride and groom to see each other before the ceremony. I’ve done a few weddings this year with first looks and while I can understand where a couple may not find it to be their cup of tea, those couples that go ahead with it, end up with some very nice images of a very intimate moment. After

Kylie and Rob were married at the Webb Deane Stevens Museum with a fantastic reception in the barn on the property. I started the day shooting Kylie’s getting ready pictures at the Silas W. Robbins House Bed and Breakfast. The day started off pretty mellow with some chit chat and photos. Everyone was calm and having a real nice time. The wedding ceremony was held beside the gardens at the museum and everything went really well. Kylie and Rob delivered a delightful toast of thanks and the food was fantastic. Then came the dancing. They danced every moment of the reception until it ended. And I don’t mean just dancing, I mean DANCING!!! The rafters of the barn had to have been swaying and as the beat drove on one could feel the floor flex with the rhythmic movement of the revelers. Non-stop, all night. Liss and I agreed when

When Jennie of Lilbludrgaonfly and I rolled out Strawberry Road Creative a few years ago, we had envisioned doing wedding photography for fun people in amazing venues and most of all, our goal was to work for people we connected with. A little over a year ago we skyped our first meeting with Caroline and Jessica. The connection was almost instantaneous. What would generally be a 30 to 40 minute meeting rolled on and on and we had a blast. Fast forward to a fantastic engagement shoot and forward still to their wedding. An amazing event of commitment, emotion, love and joy. But one undertone I couldn’t shake was that of accomplishment. I don’t think that word was uttered all night, but it was there. These two women were truly happy and proud to be standing in front of their family and friends and proclaim their love. And in a

Photographing a wedding in Glastonbury CT is easy when its Jen and Kevin. Jennie and I shot their big day from getting ready in separate houses to the big dance at the reception at the Glastonbury Hills Country Club. A nicer couple you couldn’t meet! It’s funny how you get infused into family situations as a photographer and there are those rare occasions where you wish you could be adopted. Jen and Kevin, you can think of us at Strawberry Road as the family members that would be glad to shoot your family’s moments forever :-) We also had the pleasure of working with Audio Media Solutions, a great DJ company! Godspeed to you both Jen and Kevin! Now pictures!!!

Erin and Padraic (near as I can tell it’s pronounced “Patrick,” but cool spelling, eh?) are probably two of the nicest, most genuine people I’ve ever worked with. Real Strawberry Road folks. They’re having their wedding August 7th at the same vineyard Jennie and I did a style shoot last year, check it out here! We got together yesterday to go over details for their big day. They didn’t have any engagement shots, so as we did a quick walk around the main house discussing the details of their wedding day we put together a nice collection of images that I think really sums up their collective personality :) We had a ton of fun! I think I might even use the term cajoling to describe our tongue-in-cheek, albeit impromptu shoot. Thanks guys, I had a blast. PS, the last image is my favorite…

Our summer long wedding dress spectacular is still popping up on Strawberry Road. This dress was one of the 5 from our Midsummer Night’s dress shoot. It’s funny, the weather this summer has been downright awful. If it wasn’t raining it was about to. Things were damp, mucky and just plain dismal. It’s no wonder that the idea to shoot this dress with such a stunning male model at an Old Lyme beach seemed so inspired at the time. We were wondering for days how to shoot this dress before we returned it to it’s bride and then one morning, the sun came out. I called Jennie and said, lets get this dress to the beach, it will be beautiful! Well, we shot it, we loved the shots and now looking at them I realize they were just great shots of the dress at a small beach in Old

Once in awhile Jennie and I will have a big idea. The Midsummer Night’s dress shoot was one of those. The idea, 5 dresses hanging over a beautiful stream. Smoke blown into the trees was to capture the streaming sunlight painting ethereal rays over the scene. Well, mother nature didn’t agree with our plan. A calm early morning gave way to an unreliable, omni-directional breeze. No amount of smoke would fill the canopy and if it did, it would have found it’s way in front of the dresses ruining the image. It did work for one image…click on ‘more’ below the image for the rest of the story… As photographers, Jennie and I have had to adapt to the constant changes of everything from environment, to lighting, to conditions beyond our control and even more difficult, our expectations. We had dreamt up a shot that in almost all ways should

Jennie and I had an idea, shoot brides and grooms in controlled situations that showcase some of our fantastic local venues. It’s a chance for us to work with vendors, models, and venues while creating some great images. Here’s what we’ve learned, working with venues, not terribly difficult, all we had to do was ask. Working with models, again not so difficult, all we had to do was ask. Then it dawned on us…wedding dresses…where could we find wedding dresses for different models for the different shoots? Before we started trying bridal vendors Jennie told me to let her try something. I waited and by the time a few days had passed Jennie called me elated, “I think I’ve got eight dresses for us!” Jennie had put a post up on facebook and the call was answered. A bunch of generous friends offered up their nuptial accouterments, (i.e. beautiful gowns) We got
