nikki model shoot avery point wedding photographers (22 of 25)

Every year fellow photographer Brad Smith and I head down to Mystic, Connecticut for the annual Mystic Seminars.   The seminars are a symposium of photographers showing their work, sharing their business practices and letting us eek out whatever we as photographers can of the very talented lot of speakers.  The down season for us New England photographers is a chance to collect our thoughts, shape our visions for the upcoming wedding season and well, prepare our taxes.  But in an effort to keep our cameras from collecting too much dust or too many pictures of our kids, Brad and I make the effort to book a model to shoot before the seminars begin.  This year, we found Nikki to work with us.  We also invited Rhode Island photographer  Robyn Ivy along for the shoot.   Brad, Robyn and I took Nikki out to Avery Point for some style shooting then went

After

9_0515 Lauren and David Dunes Club RI-0540_filtered

I shot Lauren and David’s engagement session a few months back.  We had postponed many times due to rain and finally got to squeeze it in at the rooftop location they had chosen.  It was raining when I arrived at the location and raining when we left.  The brief period of non-rain gave us the opportunity to get some neat engagement pictures though!  Fast forward to their wedding day, June 11, 2011.  Liss Flint was shooting the wedding with me and we had our eye on the weather all morning.  Things were looking ok.  Then, when we got to the Dunes Club, the weather turned and it began to rain.  We began shooting Lauren as she got ready for the wedding.  The rain was coming and going throughout the getting ready process.  The Club was so optimistic that the rain would finally subside that they used leaf blowers to dry
