Style, Boudoir, and an eclectic edit starring Nikki…

Every year fellow photographer Brad Smith and I head down to Mystic, Connecticut for the annual Mystic Seminars.   The seminars are a symposium of photographers showing their work, sharing their business practices and letting us eek out whatever we as photographers can of the very talented lot of speakers.  The down season for us New England photographers is a chance to collect our thoughts, shape our visions for the upcoming wedding season and well, prepare our taxes.  But in an effort to keep our cameras from collecting too much dust or too many pictures of our kids, Brad and I make the effort to book a model to shoot before the seminars begin.  This year, we found Nikki to work with us.  We also invited Rhode Island photographer  Robyn Ivy along for the shoot.   Brad, Robyn and I took Nikki out to Avery Point for some style shooting then went back to the hotel for some boudoir style photography.

The style work is pretty straight forward.  Make it look like something you’d see in a magazine.  But with the boudoir, I wanted to capture a bunch of styles.  I think you’ll notice that when you see the images below.  From dark and macabre to airy high-key to pin-up style.  I wanted to run the gamut, not only to show different styles to prospective clients, but to push myself.  I am really pleased with the images below and I thank Nikki immensely for coming out!  Enjoy!
