Each dress gains a nick-name as we begin to work with it and muster ideas about where models should showcase them. The dress in the picture after the jump is one that gained a nickname for me as soon as I saw it. Having never seen it worn, nor ever seeing an image of the bride in this cute little number, I can assign a personality to it unhampered by preconceptions. I give to you, the dress we affectionately refer to as, ‘The flapper dress.’

So there it is, hanging in the loft of a barn, a visual representation of times of hope after the first Great War. Is this beautiful little dress a flapper dress? By all means no. But it reminds me of one, much like when we nick-name a person for whatever attribute reminds us of someone famous. I can’t remember all the details, but of what I do remember of that era, Nick and Jordan had a superfluous affair and Gatsby and Daisy well, they lived the high life until it ended as quickly as a shooting star…
