Aimee and Dev are a fantastic couple whom I met as a referral from Brad Smith. This referral was unique in that Brad had the pleasure of knowing Aimee from a few years back when they had worked together. Brad was booked for their wedding day so he sent them my way and I am thrilled to have booked them as Strawberry Road clients! Aimee and Dev live in New York City and Brad and I try to make it down there a couple times a year to shoot candid city photography. Well, the timing was right and I asked Brad to come to the city to shoot and also to squeeze in Aimee and Dev’s engagement shoot ;-) We spent a wonderful time wandering amidst the paths, bridges and buildings that give Central Park that “other world” feeling. It was a great time spent with some really good

Every once in awhile a really unique and cool opportunity comes along as a photographer. I’m friend’s with the drummer Trish, of a very hip NYC band called Graveyard Lovers (And no, don’t let the fact that I called them hip dissuade you from thinking they are cool. They are, I however am tragically unhip therefore, I have no reference from which to speak hipply. But I digress). So Trish and Zack (guitar) were in the CT area recording tracks for their upcoming album. Trish asked if I’d like to stop by and take some images for band photos. I gladly offered my services and instead of just band photos, I got to shoot some studio time too! It was a blast! You can check them out on Face Book for tour dates, etc. And a shout-out too to the guys at Radar Studios for putting up with the photographer ;) note: you can click

I booked Lisa and Bryan’s wedding a little while back and like many couples, they wanted to get “save the date” cards out quickly. We had no time to wait for blossoms and blooms so we picked a spot to shoot that is picturesque regardless of the time of year. Harkness Memorial Park is one of south eastern Connecticut’s gems. Check out the link, if you’ve never been it’s gorgeous and needs to be seen! Anyhow, we made our way around the grounds and made the most of the spectacular grounds and amazing views. Oh, and they even brought Blue for a special appearance! You’ll see what I mean ;) I’m not usually on to put words at the end of a post, but serious kudo’s to these guys! Lisa was nervous and Bryan took the lead in being comfortable. With Bryan as a great point man, we got

I recently had the pleasure of Shooting Laura and Jason’s engagement pictures in and around the Wadsworth Atheneum (a great museum for an afternoon jaunt by the way). Ask my previous couples and I’m sure most, if not all, will say that we have fun when we shoot. Laura, Jason and I however had an adventure! While walking and looking for shooting locations in the labyrinth-like museum we ventured into a stairwell on the 3rd floor. As it turns out, much like a city hotel, once you enter this particular stairwell you’re locked in! The only exit is on the bottom floor which we were certain would put us on the street. Nope. It put us in a nice courtyard encircled with locked doors as well! We made the most of the courtyard for photos then after a lot of window tapping and pleading with the guy that finally came

Michelle, Brian and I got together at Wadsworth Mansion in Middletown, CT on a surprisingly warm January day. They are one of the cutest couples I’ve ever worked with! I think you could put these two in front of any building and they would make it look that much better, even this beautiful mansion! We made our way around the grounds and got some really nice images. I think Michelle may have frozen her toes but I give her credit for sticking it out. Also, despite how difficult it is these days to find cool shoes, they had ‘em ;-) Thanks guys! I can’t wait for the wedding!

I recently had the pleasure of working with a beautiful young lady. She’s the daughter of one of my very best friends and his amazingly cool wife (whom I’m pleased to call a friend as well:) They asked if I would get some images of this precious little bundle and I was happy to oblige. That being said, I have a new found respect for those that shoot newborns and do it really well! Their little bundle of joy was hungry and tired, but she was kind enough to stick around and work with us until we got some nice images. Pay special attention to the last image. It’s my favorite from the day. There’s nothing quite like capturing such a genuine moment. Happy parents make for happy kids. Sure it was shot from the hip and a little out of focus but life isn’t always tack sharp. The

Every year fellow photographer Brad Smith and I head down to Mystic, Connecticut for the annual Mystic Seminars. The seminars are a symposium of photographers showing their work, sharing their business practices and letting us eek out whatever we as photographers can of the very talented lot of speakers. The down season for us New England photographers is a chance to collect our thoughts, shape our visions for the upcoming wedding season and well, prepare our taxes. But in an effort to keep our cameras from collecting too much dust or too many pictures of our kids, Brad and I make the effort to book a model to shoot before the seminars begin. This year, we found Nikki to work with us. We also invited Rhode Island photographer Robyn Ivy along for the shoot. Brad, Robyn and I took Nikki out to Avery Point for some style shooting then went

Audrey and Chris are a great couple! Very easy going, fun to work with and well, they threw a great wedding for me to photograph! The Golden Lamb Buttery was the setting and we really couldn’t have asked for a better day. The outdoor wedding was held in a field adjacent to the buttery and the skies held back the afternoon shower that passed through with plenty of time for nuptials and a receiving line. A brief shower passed leaving the skies full of tumultuous looking clouds that made for some really cool outdoor portraits. It was also my first experience working with Jamie from Eventfully Planned and that was a great experience as well! With live folk music filling the hall in the barn and dancing, great speeches and some really fun people, we couldn’t have asked for a better day.

When Jennie of Lilbludrgaonfly and I rolled out Strawberry Road Creative a few years ago, we had envisioned doing wedding photography for fun people in amazing venues and most of all, our goal was to work for people we connected with. A little over a year ago we skyped our first meeting with Caroline and Jessica. The connection was almost instantaneous. What would generally be a 30 to 40 minute meeting rolled on and on and we had a blast. Fast forward to a fantastic engagement shoot and forward still to their wedding. An amazing event of commitment, emotion, love and joy. But one undertone I couldn’t shake was that of accomplishment. I don’t think that word was uttered all night, but it was there. These two women were truly happy and proud to be standing in front of their family and friends and proclaim their love. And in a
